Fear of Flying

I was absolutely horrified when I turned on the TV tonight and this news story was on every channel. US Airways flight 1549 hit a flock of Geese and crash landed in the Hudson River. I already have a huge fear of flying, but this... Did I mention that on Saturday I'm flying to Washington DC to go sightseeing and to the Presidential Inauguration... ON A US AIRWAYS FLIGHT?!?!?!? My brother says I shouldn't worry because after today the statistics are turned in our favor. Gee thanks, that really helps.

Farewell

I will miss our Sweet President. It's been a rough 8 years, but I don't know who else could have handled it better. I'll miss his kind eyes, and big heart, and his misuse of words. I'm nervous for our next President, but my family keeps reminding me that I am to support our leaders, especially since Heavenly Father has done everything possible to make our country the land of promise. We have beaten the odds to become the great nation we are today, and I know he wouldn't let us throw it all way that easily. Goodbye W, you will be missed.

Good News, Bad News

I am going to preface this blog with the following statement:
I have had the worst flu for the past week, and survived only on Water, Pepto-Bismol and Saltine crackers. So today, when I got a craving for Baskin Robins, the fact that it was Sunday was ignored.

The bad news is that the Baskin Robbins by my parents house is gone. WHAT??? This establishment has been on the corner of Lake Mead & Rampart for nearly 20 years, and today when I went to get my first bit of "real food" in a week, I discovered it was gone! RIP 31 Flavors you will be missed.

The good news is that the location at Sahara and Ft. Apache isn't that far... So I went there. There was a woman in line in front of me who is, quite possibly, the most obnoxious woman I've ever come in contact with... She can be physically described as a very heavy set diva, with a bad weave and holes in her sweat pants. Anyway, while waiting in line there was a Rihanna song on (I didn't know it but could tell by the annoying voice it was her). This woman could hardly sputter out her order because she was belting out the song. Off key, and loud, she was also snapping her fingers and dancing to the music. The little old Asian lady behind the counter was obviously annoyed while trying to get the order, because the woman seemed as though the nice BR Employee was interrupting her singing!

She managed to say she wanted a sundae, and continued singing and snapping. When the employee asked 1 or 2 scoops, the DIVA got angry stomped her foot and said I don't want either, I want 3, and continued singing, louder this time. Then came the Carmel sauce. Apparently the little old lady didn't know how much Carmel was enough, because once again, DIVA stopped her singing and in a huffy tone threatened to come behind the counter and get the proper amount herself (her sundae bowl was filled with sauce, gross). This behavior went on and on until the nice little employee had DIVA's entire order. I was annoyed to say the least.

Once she finished I was up next.

Apparently DIVA changed her mind on the way out the door, came back and cut in front of me, to have her sundae placed in a waffle cone, and then there was a small argument about "now the toppings are on the bottom but TOP-pings are supposed to be on top so I want extra and I don't want to pay more..." Grr

Finally she left. And I was able to order my Mocha Blast with whip cream and cinnamon on top. Just then Salt & Peppa's "Shoop" came on over the speaker.

With this, I became the annoying singing/dancing lady in Baskin Robbins!!!! But I didn't care! I felt like I was back in 8th grade singing about a handsome black man with a great butt, hahaa. I stayed, and drank my blast, while dancing across the floor until the song was over, thanked little Asian employee, and left.

She will probably be glad to get off work tonight and get away from all of the crazies in her shop.

Curious Conversations with Morg & Ev

I'm adding a new segment to my blog. It's going to be about the late night conversations between Evan and I. We usually only get to hang out late at night when I get off of work, and we're both already super tired, and the stuff that is said can be quite funny. (Even if only in a "you had to be there" kind of way)

Tonight I got off work and Evan was watching Mannequin. I secretly love this movie so I watched with him. I saw it a million times when I was young, but seeing it tonight, I realize how much "Adult Content/Language" is in this film. ALL THEY TALK ABOUT IS SEX! And not even in a round-about way. Also the Mannequin is kind of a freak! (What else should I expect from Kim Cattrall?) Anyway, she's always trying to do sexual things to/for her human boyfriend, including role playing and costumes and what not. Here's the conversation we had about this topic.

Evan: That mannequin is a slut.

Morgan: Not really, she's just open.

Evan: No she's a slut, look what she's trying to do.

Morgan: She's not a slut, there's only ONE guy here, not a bunch, and sometimes when girls really love a guy [insert LDS friendly:"and they are married" clause here], they'll do stuff for him that they normally wouldn't do, to keep things interesting.

Evan: I hope a girl loves me like that someday!

BAH HAHAHAHA! Sweet Evan, at least he knows what's really important in life. HAHAHA

Good Things

It's 2009 and things are already off to a FANTASTIC start! Here are a few of the reasons that I'm a happy camper this week:

    {1}

    It's a new year, and we all get a fresh start! New goals, new ideas and motivation are brewing all around me!

    {2}

    Thanks to my wonderful Clients, my photography business is taking off! I'm so thankful for their references which are helping me grow my little company. December alone was crazy, and I've already booked quite a few events for 2009 and even 2010!

    {3}

    I got online and ordered some journals from Pottery Barn. There is a different color journal for all 12 months, and they are adorable! Python and crocodile skin faux leather in hot pink, yellow, lime green, turquoise, purple, and orange, etc! I'm thrilled to have somewhere to write down all my thoughts!

{4}
My dad paid off my final credit card! When I first started college I had no clue about loans/grants, so I just opened cards and put my tuition and books on them. I had about $20,000 which was so scary. I've worked hard and paid off all of them, and my dad paid the $500 balance on my final credit card today. It meant a lot that he noticed how hard I've worked to do it, esp. since our relationship is so strained. it's nice to know that amidst all the turmoil, parents are still parents.
{5}
I got the nicest e-mail yesterday from a girl I haven't seen in years. She was one of my favorite lab partners my first year of college. She remembered that she always loved how my hair looked and asked me if I'd do hers for her wedding the same way I do mine! It's a little shallow, but compliments like this can really make someones day!
{6}
I also got a letter from my best friend! I haven't heard much from him since September because he's been training for a Special Op's position in the Air Force. I'm glad to hear he's doing well, and loved to see pictures of his "Mr. Potatohead hair cut".
{7}
I'm excited that this year in church we're studying the D&C. I've never read it, and when it comes to church history, I know the story of the first vision, and that's about it! I went out and got the seminary study guide (I like to keep things simple) and I'm ready to get-reading!

I'm really thankful for all that I have been blessed with, and I look forward to this year being the best one yet!
