When the Cat's Away...

Colby asked me if I would take some pictures of him today. He said he only has pictures of him in jeans & t-shirts, and would just like a nice photo of him in something dressy. Of course I did, and then did a little editing. What a nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon... And isn't he a handsome brother?!?

This weekend, both of our parents are out of town, so we decided to go out to dinner.... (Shh don't tell bishop) We decided to eat at Cheesecake Factory. All of the boys tossed coins to see what they would order... Heads was "their usual" and tails was to try something different. Evan got heads and ordered his Pasta di Vinci. Griffin got heads, but decided to go with something new, Jambalaya, because he's been craving it all day. Colby ordered a new dish, Jamaican chicken and shrimp, and I got my usual Chicken Madeira. Once our food came out, Colby and I traded. Yum! We then of course got cheesecake, and asked a restaurant employee to take a photo. It took him a few tries to get the hang of my camera:

Not quite

Almost

3rd time's a charm!

As we were walking out to the car, I had a thought, "What a nice looking family." Then, I caught a glimpse of Evan's outfit.... T-shirt & jeans, nothing unusual there... But then I noticed, Brown church socks w/ bright orange "Jagermeister" pool sandals!!! Seriously??? (And where did this nice LDS/RM get alcohol inspired clothing?) He was a LITTLE embarrassed once we pointed it out... hahaha.

Bon Voyage!!!

Tonight I set sail for a much needed vacation aboard this beautiful ship! I will be back in about 10 days! Lots of pictures and details to follow.

Apparently, it gets better.

This morning I began all last minute packing, shopping and grooming for my cruise. I decided that while I'm in the sun, swimming, and on beautiful beaches for next 10 days or so I did not want to worry about shaving. I've been "lady waxed" once before, but I wasn't keen on paying $75 every session. However Kirsten recommended me to her place and they have great deals/memberships/first time discounts etc., so I went. Today I had an appointment to get everything from my armpits to toes taken off. Needless to say this morning I was a bit nervous. So took a few IB Proufin to help calm my nerves... OK I took 4.

I walked in, expecting a spa like atmosphere (and got one). I expected to be taken to my room where I'd strip down in private and then lay on a bed with a strategically placed towel/blanket so the "artist" could see what they were doing, but not see everything.

Wrong!

I was led into a room, and then told, "OK, get naked" while my wax-est stood right there! I was mortified! Once on the bed, still mortified, she began by misting me with something smelly-good and then spreading warm wax on me in super long strips. It was almost relaxing!!! Then...

RRRRRIIIIPPPP

Owww! OOOOOO! AAAHH! EEEEEK! GUUUHHHH!!! Shriiieeekk!!

This lady could not stop laughing at me! Apparently I sounded like a cartoon with all my sound effects. I said to her, "This is not pleasant, doesn't everybody make "owwie" noises?" She then replied that most women make sex noises and think it feels good. Are you kidding me???!!!! Feels Good?!?! I definitely could relate to Steve Carell screaming every obscenity in the book, and I probably would have yelled Kelly Clarkson's name too had I had the strength to do so. All I could manage were one syllable onomatopoeias, with pants of suffering in between!

After about an hour I was done. At last! I was told not to wear deodorant or put on lotion for the rest of the day. I didn't plan on it. I hurt so bad I didn't want to touch anything south of my neck! Too bad I had to work tonight or I wouldn't have even let clothes touch my raw, red, swollen skin.

Apparently the first time is the worst, and it gets A LOT better the next time. I'm not sure I believe that...

Women, we are nuts. and the old saying is true Beauty is Pain!!!

Sneak Peak
Kristen & Derek Griffiths

I was just tryout out some Vintage looks and Textures tonight. I'm so excited to use my new stuff. I think this could start to take my creativity to a whole other level. As of today I'm obsessed with:

  • Experimenting with Black & White
  • Extremely Saturated and rich color like this lady
  • Pastels.... if you're not sure what I mean, check out this lady, she's amazing...
  • Vintage

Who knew?

I'm determined to begin playing and find "my look" as a photographer!

Ugh

I'm currently annoyed. I got in trouble at work tonight because I had a woman send back a $30 dish because she didn't tell me she had a garlic allergy. She clearly didn't read the menu either because in big letters "Garlic" is listed as one of the ingredients. Who goes to an Italian restaurant with a garlic allergy anyway? We literally have 1 item that doesn't have garlic in it. Also I love that I scheduled next week off for a cruise and I'm not put back on the schedule until the 2nd week of June. I only wanted 1 week vacation not 3. Are you kidding me? This isn't brain surgery. Because I'm currently annoyed, I farted around on Photoshop with this super cute baby. I can't decide if I like #2, #3 or the #5 black & white best. hmm.
Anyway I'm off to read my new Glamour in a hot bubble bath.

Quote of the Day

  • Tonight my whole family went to dinner. My grandma made us all laugh when she said to my mom:

    "Kim
    Guess what?!?
    I fit into my jeans!!!!
    (Slight pause)
Of course I bought a size bigger"

    Bah ha ha ha!

See it.

I just saw the new X-men Movie. It was FANTASTIC! I highly reccomend you see it. The X-men hold a special place in my heart, as we used to play them when we were younger, it was truely the only "boy game" I was interested in. I always played Rogue so it was cool to steal everyone's powers too.

While I'm here, I guess I'll mention some other movies I'm totally psyched about seeing. The next few months will keep me in theaters. Date nights will be very entertaining as the Summer has numerous Blockbusters coming out!

Better late then never

In January I had the opportunity to go to Washington DC for the Presidential Inauguration. While I didn't vote for Obama, I figured it could be a fun "sightseeing" adventure. Seeing as how I've never been farther east than Utah, I think I needed a little culture. I went with my brother Evan, his favorite Mission companion Nathan, and Nate's friend Josh. Things were off to a rocky start (between my being stranded at the DC airport for nearly 12 hours alone and Evan's flight having an emergency landing due to a broken engine), but by 3am on our first day there, things got better.

We stayed with Nathan's sister and husband but weren't "home" much. Day 1 consisted of sleeping in, then down to Federal Triangle for some museum sight seeing. Day 2 involved the Holocaust museum and monuments. And day 3 of course was the inauguration.

We had a great time, but nearly froze to death doing it! Being from Las Vegas, I am not often subjected to 11 degree weather!!! I actually had to leave "the Mall" after Aretha Franklin sang (just before Obama spoke) because I literally thought I'd die of the cold! I was as bundled as could be, and had hand and feet warmers, but it wasn't enough.

All in all it was a fun time, and I'm glad to be able to say "I was there".
